If you are looking for an easy better for you snack, try these crispy chickpeas. Be warned, they can be addictive!
You can use canned or cooked dry chickpeas for this recipe, but the key is you want them as dry as possible before popping them in the air-fryer. The dryer they are the less time it will take for the to become perfectly crunchy.
I love these as a snack but also as a crunchy topping added to soups and salads. It 's a perfect way to add some plant-based protein!

Crispy Crunchy Chickpeas
A perfect crispy, crunchy vegan snack.
PREPARATION TIME: 5 MIN COOKING TIME: 15 MIN TOTAL TIME: 20 MIN
INGREDIENTS
- 1 15 ounce/400g canned chickpeas or cooked dry chickpeas, rinsed and drained
- 2 tsp olive oil
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin powder
- ½ paprika or mild chili powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
Air Fryer
- Pat dry your rinsed chickpeas. the dries they are, the crispier and less cooking time they will need.
- Add your chickpeas, oil, and spices to a bowl and toss to coat.
- Pour the chickpeas into a pre-heated 400℉/200℃ air fryer and set the time for 15 minutes.
- Shake your basket halfway through cook time. Once done test for crunchiness and cook longer if needed.
- Best enjoyed immediately.
Oven
- Preheat your oven to 400℉/200℃.
- Pat dry your rinsed chickpeas. the dries they are, the crispier and less cooking time they will need.
- Add your chickpeas, oil, and spices to a bowl and toss to coat.
- Pour the chickpeas into a lined baking tray and bake for 30 minutes.
- Give the chickpeas a toss midway through baking. Once done test for crunchiness and cook longer if needed.
- Best enjoyed immediately.
